SD Data Center Supports Florida Technology Incubators

Melbourne, Florida / March 29, 2016 – Demonstrating its commitment to inspire innovation and assist startups, secured data center solutions provider SD Data Center has agreed to sponsor and support technology incubators Domi Station and Groundswell to accelerate the growth and success of entrepreneurial companies in the state of Florida. Additionally, SD Data Center will be hosting an event on Tuesday, April 12, for small businesses and startups to obtain new information on the NASA technologies that are now available to them.

Collaborating with Domi Station and Groundswell demonstrates SD Data Center’s commitment to innovators and technology entrepreneurs across the state of Florida. The partnership ensures that they receive the best possible business support, resources, and services during early stage startup development including funding sources, physical space, networking connections and other infrastructure needs.

“Tech startups are crucial drivers of economic growth because they provide the high-skill jobs that improve the communities around them,” said Rich Pilock, president of SD Data Center. “By joining forces with Domi Station and Groundswell, we help Florida’s business ecosystem to grow and become even more interconnected.”

“Building a startup community is a collaborative effort and we are so pleased SD Data Center has decided to sponsor and partner with us,” said Lucas Lindsey, Community Manager of Domi Station.  “SD Data Center’s best-of-breed technology services are a perfect fit for our organization.  With their leadership support, we will continue transforming Tallahassee and Leon County into a viable and thriving option for startups and technology companies.”

“Creating a successful startup begins with access to competitive, affordable resources,” said Jenna Buehler, CEO and Founder for Groundswell. “We’re honored to have SD Data Center as a community partner that serves to better connect Space Coast innovators with the tools they need to grow their companies and create jobs.”

SD Data Center has sponsored these organizations to support their missions and to provide technology services and implementation at a discounted rate to those participating in Domi Station or Groundswell incubator programs. These services are available immediately and include consulting, virtual services and bandwidth connectivity.

On Tuesday, April 12, SD Data Center will host a presentation by Mr. Mike Lester of the Kennedy Space Center Technology Transfer Office (NASA T2). He will discuss NASA technologies that are now available to small businesses and startups, and encourage startup founders and emerging innovators to take advantage of the many licensing opportunities available.

NASA has developed several thousand patented space technologies that have applications in robotics, environmental remediation, corrosion control, biotech, software and more. Hundreds of NASA technologies have been repurposed in the U.S. marketplace via license agreements made available to NASA T2 program startups.

Following the presentation there will be a panel discussion on emerging investment opportunities that support ‘New Space’ startups in Florida. Special guests include three Florida investment groups – from Miami to Central Florida – whose portfolios represent space and IoT (internet of things) related technologies.

NASA T2 is establishing an informal partner network of companies, like Groundswell and SD Data Center , who represent a pipeline to Florida’s high-tech business community. This effort is intended to increase the licensing of NASA technologies to Florida businesses and accelerate growth of the high-tech infrastructure within Florida.
